STATEMENT
My paintings emanate from nature, which for me is not only the living beings, the landscapes not is the primitive state of existence. For me nature involves an interaction with the outer world from within, a dialogue of evanescent lives with the infinite time.
Figures and forms, colors and lines guise nature. I make it ‘mine’ only when my intuitive self recognizes the many transient visions and thus, by taking the guise always, derives a compendious idea of the format entity. My yearning for this succinct form, ordinates my intuitive self into that of a painter’s.
Thus coordinated, the painting plunges into color and form; sometimes the form may subside to give way to the color and at other times the color may itself become the form. All along this subtle transition, my visual sentiment guides the plunge of the painting.
At times the world of my paintings is content with a mere drop of black ink, and then there are times when they find solace in the comb toothed crest or ridge of a wooden plaque. The medium does attract me, and I respond to this attraction with my process of mastering the medium. This process is complete only when I become one with form, color, line, wood, paper, water, oil, pencil, ink …. it is as if I lose my identity to the painting. Such moments are rare. The transition that I undergo in this process reflects many emotion, events in the family and in the general surroundings, which in turn affect the painting. Still, in the end the painting gains primacy over the trivia and shapes my perception.
This is what I call dialogue of art, of painting. The imprint they leave on my being is my vehicle for the journey from the known to the unknown. It is a constant interplay of the ‘happened’ and the ‘created’ of thought and sentiment. The effort is the process; the process is the ‘product’…
A TINY ANT WANDERS IN SPACE
IN SEARCH OF FORM
WOULD IT EVER KNOW
THAT IT IS A FORM
OF THE CORE OF THE UNIVERSE.
